A cross bearing, also known as a universal joint (U-joint), is a component used in a vehicle’s drivetrain. It is found on the propeller shaft and allows power to be transmitted from the gearbox to the differential while permitting movement and changes in angle. The cross bearing helps the driveshaft rotate smoothly even when the suspension moves up and down. It is very important for smooth power transfer. When a cross bearing is worn out, it can cause vibration, noise, or knocking sounds while driving, so regular inspection and lubrication are necessary.
